Crewing for Magic Carpet Ride

If you are interested in volunteering to crew for one of our balloon flights sometime, please contact us at Fly@MagicBallooning.com and we'll answer any questions you may have and provide you with the needed information to get you started.

Safety First:

Always listen to your pilot's instructions - his first priority is keeping everyone safe
Don't get tangled in any ropes or handling lines
Don't wrap or tie any lines or ropes around you
Keep loose objects (scarf, clothing, fingers...) clear of the fan

Crewing Responsibilities:

Pre-launch:
- Remove balloon system from chase vehicle
- Help lay out balloon system for inflation
- Help with crowd control if needed
- Help with inflation
- Turn off inflator fan
- Provide weight on basket after balloon is standing

Post-launch:
- Pack up all items still on the launch field (i.e.: fan, gloves, ropes,....)
Chasing:
- Keep the balloon in sight as much as possible
- Communicating with the pilot via the radio
- Navigating (i.e.: map reading, determining which roads to take)
- Arrive at landing site about the same time as the balloon
Post-landing:
- Obtain landowner's permission to enter their property whenever possible...
- Pack up the balloon system
- Be a part of the after-flight "champagne toast" and celebration
